What is this?

I've loved reading ever since I was a kid. Books brought me a consistent way to center myself and destress at the end of each day. However, the thought of being able to string together words into a coherent and compelling plot sounds far out of my reach. Recently though I've learned that there is someone in my year at my uni that is already making a living writing novels.

I don't necessarily want to make this my living, but it's made me realize that authors are not supernatural beings. I want to at the very least see what it feels like to write for myself.

I'm starting this monthly challenge thing for a variety of reasons:

• I feel like I am spending a lot of time just consuming stuff
  • Not to vilify consumption, but I want to do more things that I can call my own
• I am not really sure on my future life path.
  • I want to try a bunch of things and hopefully I find something that I like.

How is this?

I will make one post every day of February with an extension to a narrative.

The post will be written in 3 phases:

• (5 min) Planning consisting of 1 or more of:
  • Creating a new character
  • Expanding on existing characters
  • Expanding the setting
• (20 min) Writing
• (5 min) Editing

Then hopefully, by the end of the month I will have 14 hours of writing.
